Some sexy new jams for you, nasty nasties.

Tommy Love & Chioke — “Wonder Where We Fall”

The piano comes in pure and strong. The hip-hop drums crack through the angelic ascension to buoy the tune and bob the head. The drums let you know you’re in for a ride that you may not have expected, or rather to just ditch any expectations you may have had. After the first chorus this song LIFTS & SOARS. I don’t know if they were inspired by Cudi but that’s what I, as a big fan of his, gathers. So kudos to a beautiful tune.

The cover art suggests the song is drifting into the atmosphere as the artists watch the listener take the ride, a spiritual drift. It’s probably not that deep but I’ll choose to believe it is.

Al Zamora — “One Rule”

Ooooh this is a poppy one in the best of ways. Al Zamora did his Ed Sheeran thing here. Through tickled ivories his voice comes through, despite its cloud-like softness. Then that guitar at the end?!?!  What a way to ride out a song. Get this on the radio.

“I’ll do my best to understand” feels honest, which offers further ethos. I like being able to believe the artist’s message, especially in pop songs.

Massive popstars singing about real life shit tends to turn me off. Justin Bieber being oh so Low-oh-oh-oh-lo-onely makes me cringe.

I do think the cover art here is a bit misleading. Even if the message is darker than the song may be, it’s a happy tune to groove to, so the shadowed cover and red lettering. That being said, you listen to music, you don’t look at it, so who really gives a shit. I dig the Phillies cap.

Nick Lombardo & The Decent Ok — “No One Else”

The cover art looks like a couple of upside down penises jamming out to the radio. Despite that observation, it’s a very enjoyable song, and I’d say the same for most of Nick Lombardo & The Decent Ok’s music — enjoyable.

The wavy, distorted guitar works against what I would thought sounded a touch androgynous, which I love.

There’s nothing outwardly unique or different about these guys. They make quality, fun, rock n’ roll with tasty licks and standout vocals. It doesn’t always have to be overly complex to be great. K.I.S.S.

Black Buttafly — “Imagine”

There’s a lot of hype surrounding Kayla Childs’s AKA Black Buttafly’s first release, “Imagine”, and rightfully so. She seemingly plays keys and supplements vocals for half the Philly music scene. It’s no surprise there was a wave of musicians and fans excited for her first official release.

“Imagine” is a lyrically focused and melodically friendly song that delivers a strong message with a simple beat to rock to, before it expands after the first minute with spacey, digital age euphonics (made that word up just now)

A song of honesty and manifestation.

“Everything I imagine. It’ll happen”
